After Negotiations With Banks, OnlyFans Changed Its Mind About Banning Adult Content
It took only six days for OnlyFans to lift its own ban on "adult" content. Now, according to company representatives, they have the necessary guarantees.
The service for publishing photo and video content available by subscription announced that it will not impose a ban on the publication of explicit content from October 1. This was reported on the company's Twitter.
The change to the policy for content contributors on the subscription service was announced on August 18th. The administration of the platform wanted to prohibit posting pornography on the site explaining it with the growing pressure from banks and payment services. The fact is that many financial organizations are reluctant to cooperate with companies of this kind. At the same time, the changes did not apply to erotic videos and photo sessions. The ban was to apply only to content demonstrating "explicit sexual behavior". Authors would still be able to post nude videos and photos to the platform, but only if they do not violate OnlyFans' policy. For example, "nude" content filmed in public places was banned. However, it was not specified whether it would be possible to send such materials in private messages.
Anyway, the panic is canceled. Thousands of future unemployed can breathe easy and return to their usual self-employment.
Over the past year, during the coronavirus pandemic, the service's revenue increased by 553%- primarily due to affordable porn. Also, the rise in popularity of OnlyFans was influenced by the arrival of celebrities on the site. In addition to the stars of adult films and webcam models, actress Bella Thorne, as well as rappers Cardi B and Black Chyna, sold their erotic photos.
