"Avatar" is behind "Avengers: Endgame" by several million, but not for long
It is said that “Avatar” is planning to return to Chinese cinemas this weekend. This will allow China to increase its cinema attendance, which has dropped markedly during the lockdown due to the coronavirus. However, the screening of the film was planned for 2020, due to the pandemic the dates were postponed. While China has been able to recover to some extent in ticket sales over the past few months, this has slowed since celebrating the Chinese New Year.
Back in 2019, Disney finally finished acquiring assets from 20th Century Fox for “Avatar” and then “Avengers: Endgame” appeared on the screens, which overbeaten “Avatar” and raised 2.8 billion dollars worldwide. Interestingly, “Avengers: Endgame” raked in more than 1.2 billion dollars within five days of its global debut.
So far, according to the data, “Avatar” is less than 7.4 million dollars behind the Marvel movie and can easily change it. In addition, it can also be a great way to promote the next part of “Avatar” which will be released in 2022. Maybe the upcoming premiere will even break new records.
