At the beginning of this month, Elon Musk became the largest shareholder of Twitter. Later, the founder of Tesla and SpaceX announced his readiness to buy out 100% of the company's shares.

Finally, on Monday, the leadership of the American social network announced the completion of the deal. The businessman purchased the company for 54.20 dollars per share in cash. The total amount of the deal was 44 billion dollars.

The management of the social network said that after the completion of the transaction, Twitter will become a private company. The businessman has already proposed several changes- from easing restrictions on published content to destroying fake accounts.

Elon Musk is the richest man on the planet with a fortune of 273.6 billion dollars, mainly due to his shares in Tesla, which he runs. Another well-known firm closely associated with Musk's name is the aerospace company SpaceX.

Former US President Donald Trump, whose Twitter account has been blocked, has said he will not return to the social network even if he is unblocked.

Elon Musk is a longtime and regular user of the platform. He has 80 million followers on the social network, and whatever statements he makes on the social network, they instantly spread on the Internet.

He also regularly uses Twitter to share news from his companies. In addition, he often posts memes, which makes him popular even among those who are not very interested in business, space, or cars.
