A 22-Year-Old Student Became a Millionaire by Selling Selfies at a Crypto Auction

An Indonesian student posted on the NFT auction platform a series of pictures taken with a computer webcam. Part of the lots has already been sold in the form of non-fungible tokens, exceeding a total of one million dollars.

The 22-year-old admits to taking selfies for the past 5 years. It started when he was 18 years old. In the photo, Ghozali Ghozalu is standing in front of the computer day after day just looking into the lens with the same facial expression. But the selfies themselves differ in background, hairstyle, and clothing.

He published 933 photos on the OpenSea website in December 2021, setting a price of 3 dollars for each of them. It is unlikely that the guy expected any attention to his collection from buyers.

But the idea of a young man interested influencers who supported him on Twitter. As a result, the crypto community drew attention to the pictures.

According to the data, at its peak, NFT selfies were sold for 0.9 Ethereum, which is equal to about 3,000 dollars. As of January 17, over 500 people have bought such NFTs.

As a result, the total income from selfies was 366 Ethereum. One ETH is trading at 3,600 dollars, so the selfies brought the Indonesian photographer nearly 1.2 million dollars.
