Now your name may be sent to Mars

On February 18, 2021, the Perseverance rover successfully landed on the surface of Mars. And nearly 11 million people have landed with it. This happened after NASA suggested people from all around the world to "send their names" directly to Mars.

How did NASA manage to collect the names?

People gave their names so that later they could travel around the Red Planet on a rover. Generally, the company received 10,932,295 names. And now they are on the surface of the planet and are written on chips whose size is comparable to a fingernail.

How were these chips made?

The names were engraved on these chips using an electron beam that allows very small details to be written. They are so small that they are less than the width of human hair.

How and where can you register to send your name to the next mission?

The first thing you need to do is to go to the NASA website and fill in your first and last name. After you have done this, find your country on the list. Then fill in your zip code and email address. Finally, click on the button: "Send my name to Mars" and it is ready.

Immediately after that, you will be redirected to the page where you will find your boarding pass, which can be saved as a souvenir or printed. And we have already sent our name to Mars.
