Two years ago, a girl got rid of her leg after a fight with a shark. Paige Winter, who is now 19 years old, got her leg above the knee amputated and underwent several surgeries to restore her arms.
On June 2, 2019, Winter was bathing on the beach in North Carolina together with her family when a bull shark dragged her underwater. The girl was in waist-deep water when she felt something grab her leg. At first, she thought it was her brother or sister. But it was a shark. Paige reached into the animal's mouth and tried to fight it. As a result of the attack, she received deep cuts on her leg and arms and almost died.
Fortunately, her father came to pick her up. Winter was rescued by Charlie, who punched the animal in the face five times until it released her leg. The girl was immediately taken to the hospital, where she spent a month healing. After the operation, she went to her final year of high school.
But the girl never blamed the creature. Even when she was lying in an ambulance she told her father not to be angry with the shark for being in its environment.
Before the incident, she was an environmentalist and was living a normal life. She just got a boyfriend and turned 17. Once she returned to the sea, but she prefers to use the pool. Currently, she is working with National Geographic on a TV show about sharks. Now she is ready to tell her own story and share her experience in National Geographic's 'Shark Attack: The Paige Winter Story' which will arrive on July 12.
