Turkish Police Force Used Gas and Rubber Bullets during the Annual Pride Parade

On Saturday, police from Turkey used tear gas and started a fire with rubber bullets to prevent the holding of the annual Pride parade. As it was reported, police officers were looking for the marchers and tried to prevent them from gathering at local a shopping center.

The thing is that the governor of Istanbul refused to give permission for the parade, which has been forbidden for the past seven years after it was first organized in 2003.

But despite the ban, thousands of people raised rainbow flags while marching through the Beyoglu district.

This action against the LGBTQ+ parade was another move of discrimination from the government, including the President and the minister of the country. Previously, the two officials criticized LGBTQ+ students' protests at Istanbul university. They claimed that such a community doesn't exist.
